The HP class action settlement was reached after consumers accused the tech company of installing HP firmware, called “Dynamic Security,” on certain printers that made it impossible to use any other brand of printer ink.
According to the class action lawsuit, Dynamic Security caused HP printers to display a fake error messages when non-HP printer ink cartridges were used — causing consumers to think that the ink cartridges were faulty. The HP firmware allegedly affected thousands of (~ 30,000) Class Members.
